Have you ever found yourself saying, “That person just brings out the worst in me”? It’s a statement many of us have made—but what if I told you that no one can bring out something that wasn’t already there?

Yes, I said it. And yes, it stings a little.
God has a unique way of transforming us, and often, it begins with allowing us to see ourselves clearly—often times through the actions and behaviors of others. This process isn’t meant to hurt us; it’s designed to refine us.
Mirrors in Disguise
The people around you can often act as mirrors, reflecting back the very behaviors you may not even realize you carry.
That judgmental friend who always gets under your skin? Could it be that your “helpful advice” has a hint of judgment in it?
That frustration you feel when someone lies to you? How many half-truths or white lies have you told?
These moments aren’t coincidences. They’re God’s gentle (and sometimes not-so-gentle) nudges, showing us what needs to change.
Refinement Through Fire
Scripture tells us that God refines us as silver is refined—in fire. And while it may feel overwhelming, that fire is necessary to burn away the things that no longer serve us. God doesn’t want to leave us in the ashes of our old selves. He wants to bring beauty from them.
But here’s the key: we must be willing to face the fire and let Him do the work.
The Courage to Face Yourself
This year, I pray you find the courage to look in the mirror and see the truths about yourself you might have been avoiding. Not to condemn yourself, but to embrace the opportunity to grow.
It’s not enough to say, “I’m a new creation.” True transformation is evident in how you live, love, and lead.
Sometimes, the path to discovering who you are starts with acknowledging who you’ve been—and deciding to let that version of yourself go.
Steps Toward Transformation
Ask for Revelation. Pray and ask God to reveal the parts of your character that need refining.
Own What You See. When God shows you an area to work on, don’t run from it. Own it with humility.
Take Action. Transformation is a choice. Ask for forgiveness, make amends, and intentionally shift your actions toward who you want to become.
Speak Life Over Yourself. It’s okay to say, “That was who I used to be, but it’s not who I am anymore.” God’s grace allows us to leave the old behind and walk boldly into the new.
Beauty from Ashes
The most beautiful part of this process is that God doesn’t just show us who we are—He reminds us of who we’re becoming.
Let this be the year you stop avoiding the mirror and start embracing the masterpiece God is shaping within you. Because when you allow Him to refine you, your life will reflect His glory in ways you never imagined.
Reflection Question: What is one behavior or habit you see in others that God might be asking you to examine in yourself?
Face it. Embrace it. Transform because of it! Which I pray that you do, in Jesus mighty name, amen and amen!🔥🤍🕊️
